Bio

Jessica Gall Myrick is an award-winning health communication researcher with a background in journalism and athletics.

During her multi-decade career in academia, she published two books and more than 100 articles that used social science and psychophysiological methods to better understand how messages shape audiences’ emotional, cognitive, sociopolitical, and physical worlds.

Dr. Gall Myrick’s research insights have been featured in media outlets across the globe and her interactive lectures have brought the world of media psychology to thousands of students and community members. Beyond her time in academia, Dr. Gall Myrick has industry experience in media, sports, and healthcare.

From redesigning recruitment materials that tripled the enrollment rate for an NIH-funded community intervention to creating social media content to promote youth science education, Dr. Gall Myrick brings a mix of research-based insights alongside real-world experience to every project she tackles.

Back in the day, Dr. Gall Myrick was a Big Ten champion and three-time All-American distance runner at Indiana University. After college, she ran for the Brooks-sponsored Team Indiana Elite and competed at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon. When she’s not working, you’ll find her either with her kids and pug dog or helping out the local high school track and cross country teams.
